The seven boy band BTS , best from Seoul l , South Korea He is now a very well-known and largely followed band , not only in its home country but all around the world. The name BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan. In Korean. English translation means Bullet proof Boy Scouts. The reason behind the popularity of BTS is The band mainly produces a mixture of electronic , hip-hop , pop , rock , R&B and sometimes rap. Their genre is a part of K pop , Korean popular music.
what made them different and hence
widely known then other Korean bands is due to their way of publicity. While other Korean bands relied on television publicity , specially in their own country to gain wide audience , the BTS chose a different way and opted for social media for their publicity. This gave them an opportunity to directly interact with their fans , through live streaming and keeping them up-to-date. One interesting thing about the band is that the seven members do not have individual social media accounts. Instead they use only one account for the band. And the fans who like to address themselves as the “Army” loved this from the beginning. BTS, comprising seven members namely Kim Tae-hyung ( AKA V), Jung Ho-seok (J-Hope) , Kim Nam-joon (RM) , Kim Seok-jin (Jin) , Park Ji-min , Jeon Jung-kook , and Min Yoon-gi (Suga).
The boys came together through auditions in 2010 and 2011 by big Hit entertainment.
They debuted with their first single album “2 cool 4 skool” Through Big Hit entertainment , which was a huge success both domestic and internationally. In following years , BTS released numerous albums like Dark and Wild , Wake up (2014) and Wings (2016). The last one became the first album to sell 1 million copies in South Korea. by 2017, BTS became a well-known name in the international music market. Their single “love yourself; Tear” became the first Korean song to top the US Billboard 200 chart. With more than 20 million copies sold, The BTS is the most selling artist group in South Korea. BTS has also made appearance in the “100 most influential people in the world” in 2019 list.

Despite them being Korean, why are they known and loved by so many people, especially the youth? Well the main reason might be the theme of their music and songs. Unlike other Korean bands to focus on songs about love , relationship , heartbreaks , The BTS tries to cover subjects like bullying, mental health and elitism. These topics gives them the ability to be relatable because the love songs, according to the new generation are too cliche now. The youth now finds the BTS songs more relatable and realistic. They think that topics like bullying, depression, anxiety need more acknowledgement from celebrities and at the time , only BTS seemed to be doing so. This is why they were supported largely by the “Army” of fans. But let’s not forget about the entertainment part.
Their shows often include dance performances which are definitely worth watching. With sleek dance moves, entertaining music videos their appearances look intriguing, attracting more and more fan base. In fact, the band is so popular that their music video “IDOL” gained 45 million views in just 24 hours in August 27, 2018. Prior to that, the most viewed video in 24 hours was Taylor Swift’s “look what you made me do” which accumulated 43.2 million views. The BTS kept breaking YouTube records by following years but the biggest hit was dynamic. The song in just a time period of 24 hours made legendary record, collecting 101.2 million views on YouTube.
